FEDNet - Federal Network launched an advanced cyber security network across 35 federal bodies on Saturday with the aim to protect the UAE government against APTs - “Advanced Persistent Threats.” It was launched by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
“Cyber risks and threats are persistently finding ways to reach their goals,” TRA director-general Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri was quoted as saying by state news agency WAM.
“Therefore, the provision of electronic security and protection needs to keep pace with these risks by using the latest cyber protection technologies,” he added.
FEDNet provides the opportunity to interconnect and exchange data between all local and federal government entities.
How does it work?
- Verify and assess the pattern of any e-content - Email/Website.
- Assesses any suspicious patterns in how the data is dealt with.
- Effective protection against ‘Zero Day Attacks’ - cyberattack by security hole exploitation in software before the knowledge of the owner.
A new generation of advanced cyberattacks have arisen in recent years, said Al Mansouri.
“The TRA monitors these risks, and protect against them through advanced procedures, including the provision of protection to the federal government entities involved in the FEDNet, without loading them any additional financial or administrative burdens.”
Dubai has earlier launched in late May by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,
the cyber security strategy with a mission to become the world’s leader in innovation, safety, and information security. The strategy also includes the effective management of cyber security risks.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad said; “cyber security has become an essential requirement in the digital era as the world has become more connected with the spread of smart technologies.”
