The website of Blender, a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software, went offline yesterday after a hacking attempt.

Blender supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline- modelling, animation rigging, rendering simulation, compositing and motion tracking, 2D animation pipeline and video editing.

Blender’s official Twitter account tweeted yesterday that “the HTTP://blender.org website is undergoing maintenance due to a hacking attempt, ” as it's maintainers took stock of the intrusion.

The majority of the website was back online, including the documentation wiki and the developer Git repository. However, some of the other sections remained offline.

While the site's homepage is still working, as usual, other parts of the site only display a "This page is not available" error, encouraging visitors to check "a copy on the Internet Archive."

“Checksums have been verified and it is considered safe to download Blender,” added Blender.

It appears that the developers we're working through the night to check and verify every asset of the website, which was still not available till earlier today.

The company did not provide any details about the cyberattack.
