Canadian Discount Car and Truck Rentals hit by DarkSide ransomware gang where the hackers claim to have stolen 120 GB of data.
This month, the car rental company’s online rental services, discountcar.com, were disrupted by the DarkSide ransomware gang's cyberattack.
“Discount Car and Truck Rentals was subject to a ransomware attack that impacted the Discount headquarters office. A fully-dedicated team isolated and contained the attack quickly. The team is working to investigate and restore service as quickly and safely as possible, " reported BleepingComputer.
Visitors who try to manage or book a rental online are met with a message stating that the website is off due to technical problems and for assistance to call the listed numbers.
Dark Side claims to have stolen 120 GB of unencrypted data, consisting of marketing, finance, account, banking and franchisee data.
As a proof Dark Side posted up various folder listings of alleged Discount Car and Truck Rentals.
Dark Side began their operation in August 2020 and is known to exfiltrate unencrypted files before they deploy the ransomware to encrypt devices.
