EXMO cryptocurrency exchange servers we're taken down temporarily after being hit in a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

The UK based exchange tweeted that its servers are temporarily unavailable due to a DDoS attack and working on solving the issue.

The service was unavailable for about three hours, and websites are now back online.

A spokesperson reported to Decrypt that the attack affected its entire infrastructure, including the website, Websocket API, API and exchange charts.

“Our team is currently developing a new infrastructure for hot wallets. Since each blockchain needs a separate server, the process will take some time," reported EXMO in a subsequent update.

This attack comes less than two months after a security breach that drained about 5% of the company's assets in a security breach on December 21, 2020.

"Once deposits and withdrawals are available, you will have to generate a new wallet address in the 'Wallet' section of your account.”

The company added that they are taking up all important and precautionary measures to prevent such inside ts from reoccurring.
