Kerala state electricity board (KSEB) website was hacked and data of 3,00,000 customers were stolen.
According to reports hackers were able to steal the information of 3,00,000 KSEB ( Kerala state electricity board ) users within three hours.
A hacking team named `K hackers’ were behind this attack. Around 6 am the hacking team shared the information in the form of a video on their Facebook page. Of these, more than thousands of user information was released in a Google Drive file.
The information stolen includes users from all the districts of Kerala. KSEB has stopped all of its online transactions due to the attack.
The hackers said that if the KSEB does not fix the software within three months, then they would expose the collected data. They have also attached a free Windows application courtesy of K hackers.
The hackers claim that the market value for the collected data is above five lakhs. Since selling information is not the K Hackers tone, only the information of three lakh people has been taken.
The hackers say that the KSEB section office application does not hold so much information about the customer, but an expert can easily steal from outside.
The stolen information includes consumer number, name, district and payment amount.K hackers claim that their main agenda is to point out all the weak security points which can easily be hacked and KSEB is their first startup.
The hackers also posted a link to a Windows application stating that it was free to use and the app will be able to find out if your name has information.
K Hackers also warned that they would hack the PSC website before August 13.
