Atlanta-based Artivion filed document with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission, stating that the incident has been impacting its operations.

Artivion Inc., a prominent medical device manufacturer specializing in life saving products for heart and vascular surgeries, has fallen victim to a ransomware attack that has significantly disrupted its shipping processes.

Atlanta-based Artivion filed document with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission, stating that the incident has been impacting its operations.

The company detected the attack on November 21 and had to take its systems offline. The incident led to the acquisition and encryption of files. Although the company is still fulfilling customer orders and services, some shipments and orders have been affected by the disruption.

Some of the cost associated with the attack will be covered by the Cyber Insurance, but the company has stated that “believes that it will incur additional cost that will not be covered by insurance”.

The company remains subject to various risks due to the incident, including the impact of delays in restoration, and, as a result, cannot provide assurances that the incident will not be determined to have a material impact in the future.

The company is making every effort to resolve the incident and restore normal operations as quickly as possible while evaluating any notification obligations related to the incident.

The incident highlights the growing risks posed by ransomware attacks to healthcare sectors.
