AGCO is a worldwide maker and distributor of agricultural equipment and solutions based in Dutch and Georgia. The firm has 1,810 dealerships in North America and has recorded net sales of $11.1 billion in 2021.
The company was forced to close down parts of its IT systems in response to the incident.
AGCO is still investigating the extent of the attack and did not provide any information about the attack. The security breach will impact the business operations for several days and might take longer to renew all services fully.
“AGCO, Your Agriculture Company (NYSE:AGCO), a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, announced today that on May 5, 2022, it was subject to a ransomware attack that has impacted some of its production facilities,” reads the notification published by the company.
It is still unclear which ransomware strain infected the company’s systems or if the company will pay the ransom.
According to French media, the company realised it suffered the attack on Thursday morning. The disruption resulted in servers becoming inaccessible and forced to stop production at the affected company sites.
