TeamViewer has concluded the investigation and incident response phase for the cyberattack detected on June 26, 2024. It has been confirmed that the security breach was contained in the internal corporate IT environment.
TeamViewer, a leading firm providing remote connectivity solutions, in partnership with renowned cyber security experts from Microsoft, has reassured millions of users who rely on its software for remote access that the attack has not affected its production environment, connectivity platform, or customer data.
The company says, “These findings confirm that our software solutions have always been safe to operate. We appreciate our customers’ continued trust in our products, security position, and incident response capabilities.”
By taking immediate restoration actions and implementing additional security measures, the company instantly responded to this attack, with reports saying that no suspicious activity had been detected in its internal corporate IT environment following the security breach.
Though the malicious actors were able to copy the employee directory data, including names, corporate contact info, and encrypted passwords, the risk associated with the encrypted passwords has been mitigated by Microsoft’s cybersecurity experts.
Although the primary investigation phase has concluded, TeamViewer remains undeterred in staying cautious against such attacks while maintaining a robust security posture.
