To facilitate this transition, Microsoft will give each employee in China and Hong Kong a one-time purchase of an iPhone 15.
Leading software firm Microsoft has announced a new policy for its employees in China. Effective September 2024, all employees in China will be mandated to switch from Android phones to iPhones for accessing the company's corporate networks. It would enforce the utilization of the Microsoft Authenticator Password Manager App and Identity Pass App.
The decision to implement this policy is part of Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative, which was developed in response to multiple security breaches and the U.S. government’s report stating Redmond’s incompetent Cybersecurity practices. Additionally, the unavailability of Google’s mobile services in China, which is essential for running Microsoft’s security applications, has also induced this change.
To facilitate this transition, Microsoft will give each employee in China and Hong Kong a one-time purchase of an iPhone 15.
As part of its Secure Future Initiative, Microsoft is determined to release cloud patches faster, improving identity signing key management, adding technical controls to prevent unauthorized access to secure corporate infrastructure, and enhancing default software security under the Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB) standards.
Furthermore, Microsoft will implement identity and secret management standards, including hardware-protected key rotations and phishing-resistant MFA, strengthen network and tenant protections, and ensure that only secure devices can access Microsoft tenants.
