Security researchers caught China's TikTok app spying on millions of its users

Security researchers caught China's TikTok app spying on millions of its users.

TikTok is a Chinese video-sharing social networking service available in different languages.

The app was found copying from the user's clipboard every few second and logging their keystrokes without their consent.

The issue was discovered in the beta version of iOS14 which warns whenever an application is collecting user data. TikTok was found logging the keystrokes when typing.

According to TikTok, the issue is now “triggered by a feature designed to identify repetitive, spammy behaviour,” and has told Zak Doffman that it has “already submitted an updated version of the app to the App Store removing the anti-spam feature to eliminate any potential confusion.”

Earlier in march when the original clipboard issue was addressed and the company said it was due to an outdated library in their app and it showed up to due to third-party SDKs.

Even though TikTok confirmed the issue and fixed immediately, as with the new iOS version they were caught still spying on its users.

Even though iOS users can relax, Apple's latest safeguard will force TikTok to make the change but for Android users, there is no word about the issue.

All iPhone users must update to the latest version of Tik Tok as soon as it's released.

Even though people use TikTok apps’ for entertainment, there is a lot of risk regarding the privacy of our data.
