A 21-year-old, who was a student at James Madison University has been found guilty of developing a malicious keylogger software, which infected more than 16,000 victims. This spyware is designed to monitor every keystroke in victim's computer.Zachary Lee Shames, from Virginia, developed the initial version of the spyware while he was still a high school student in 2013 and sold it to more than 3,000 people.The charges against Shames is that he designed and sold certain spyware which is called “Limitless Keylogger Pro,” knowing that software was going to cause damage to computers without authorization and deliberately.A user named “Mephobia” advertised it on a widespread hacking messaging board, called Hack Forums asking for a $35 “lifetime” subscription, asking for payments via PayPal or Bitcoin.student keylogger   The same user Mephobia, who advertised the spyware, which has to spread itself through Omegle, also appears to be owned by Shames. Moreover, in another Hack Forums thread, Mephobia posted a chat log with the owner of spyware that discloses his real name as Zach Shames.Shames was an intern for the defense contractor Northrop Grumman from May 2015 to Aug 2016. Shames is expected to be sentenced on June 16, 2017, and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
